Let me paint a picture for you. You have just had one hell of a day. Only one thing is going to give you some peace! But there is no ice cream in the freezer, no chocolate morsels in the cabinet, and no cake on the counter. What is a person to do?!?!?!
Oh brother. I have BEEN there before! My husband has the good fortune of not craving sweets (how is that even possible?????), but me, I crave sugar. Give me all of the sugar! Because of this, I really try to keep my desserts at a minimum, and healthy if I can manage it. Over the years, I have discovered some favorites (I do mean discovered, I really do not enjoy following recipes), and I would love to share them with you for your next time in need. So here they are- my 4 most favorite quick, easy, and oh-so-convenient, yummy desserts!!
-What you’ll need: a peach (or peaches); honey or sugar; cinnamon
-What to do: Cut your peach in half and remove the pit. Place both halves of the peach pit side up on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar (or honey). Bake at 300 degrees until the peach has become fragrant, soft and/or some of the sugar/honey has begun to brown (I typically check it after 15 minutes and then again in 5 minute intervals). Remove from baking sheet (be careful, it is hot!!!) and enjoy!
-What you’ll need: a banana (duh); whatever toppings you like!! My favorites? Coconut flakes, any type of chocolate or chocolate syrup, almond slices, whipped cream/CoolWhip, peanut butter, MARSH MELLOWS
-What to do: cut up your banana and use whatever you’ve got to spice it up a bit!
-What you’ll need: a grapefruit and sugar (dang that’s easy!)
-What to do: Cut a grapefruit in half. Using a small knife (preferably a grapefruit knife), section out the grapefruit into a bowl. Sprinkle sugar onto the pieces and enjoy!
-What you’ll need: Any type of fruit! I typically buy fruit in bulk so I can freeze half of it. My favorites are grapes, strawberries, cantaloupe, banana, pineapple, honeydew, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries.
-What to do: Wash the fruit and dry it completely (except bananas). Place fruit in ziploc bags in freezer and allow to freeze for 24 hours before enjoying!
Now, get to eating! Until next time, #findyourpeace.
